Mercedes-Benz India introduced the C-Class Cabriolet in India shortly after introducing the updated C-Class sedan in India. The drop-top C-Cabriolet comes with a new BS-VI petrol engine, special AIRCAP system, LED headlamps, two metallic body colours. The C-Cabrio is available in a single C300 trim priced at Rs 65.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Based on the same car as the recently updated C-Class, the changes are around the headlamps and grille along with a revised tail. Just like the C-Class Coupe, the tail lights of the Cabriolet are sleeker than the one seen on the sedan. The grille can now also be had as the diamond radiator grille with chrome pins instead of the standard dual-louvred one. The bumpers get an AMG-like design with larger intakes and a sporty bumper lip. The Cabriolet also comes with MULTIBEAM LED headlamps with pixel-specific beam range and coverage control. This headlamps unit is usually seen in expensive Mercedes-Benz models. It sits on stylish 17-inch, five-large spoke lightweight-alloy wheels and is available with two new metallic paint finishes – Mojave Silver and Selenite Grey – apart from one special paint, Designo Selenite Grey Magno.
The Cabriolet also comes with Mercedes’ special equipment called the AIRCAP system which noticeably reduces the airflow in the interior when the top is folded down. The interior is dominated by a large 10.25-inch screen with the new generation telematics. There are features like steering mounted control, 64 ambient colour, smartphone integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and open-pore walnut wood trim inside the cabin.
Powering it is an all-new M264 petrol engine which is compliant to the BS-VI standards. This 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine produces 258bhp and 370Nm and is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels. The cabriolet is capable of going from zero to a 100kmph in just 6.2seconds.
At Rs 65.25 lakh ex-showroom, the C-Cabriolet is pricier by almost Rs 7 lakh than the top-spec C 300d AMG Line sedan. The C-Class Cabrio is a niche product in the country and only rivalled by the Audi A5 Cabriolet in its segment. However, the C-Class Cabriolet comes with the Three-Pointed Star placed at its nose and this demands an unparalleled respect in our country.
